Tetracycline Hydrochloride Ophthalmic Ointment 1%

Indication

Treatment of superficial bacterial infections of the eye caused by tetracycline-susceptible organisms, such as conjunctivitis, blepharitis and keratitis, and for the prevention of trachoma. For ophthalmic use only.

Ingredients

• Tetracycline Hydrochloride 10 mg/g (1%)

Direction

Apply as directed by the physician. Usually a small strip of ointment is placed inside the lower eyelid several times a day.

Side effects

• May cause transient blurred vision after application
• mild stinging
• burning or eye irritation. Hypersensitivity reactions and

• susceptible organisms may occur. If irritation persists or increases

Precautions

• For ophthalmic use only. Do not use if you are allergic to tetracycline or other tetracycline
• class antibiotics. Avoid touching the tube tip to the eye or any surface to prevent contamination. If irritation persists or increases
• discontinue the use and consult a physician. Prolonged use may lead to overgrowth of non
• susceptible organisms. If you are pregnant or breastfeeding
• consult a doctor or pharmacist before use.
