Indication
High-dose vitamin D3 used to prevent and treat vitamin D deficiency, and conditions resulting from it such as rickets in children and osteomalacia in adults. Also used as a supplement alongside treatment for osteoporosis and in people at risk of deficiency. Prescribed and dosed by a doctor.
Ingredients
- Cholecalciferol (vitamin D3) 200 000 IU per 1 mL ampoule
- Medium
- chain triglycerides q.s. 1 mL
Direction
Oral use or intramuscular injection, exactly as prescribed by your doctor. The ampoule contains a single 200 000 IU dose; it may be swallowed directly or injected intramuscularly. Because the dose is very high, it is given only at long intervals set by the doctor — never take more often than prescribed. Follow the stated doses and read the leaflet carefully before use.
Side effects
- Taking more vitamin D than prescribed can raise calcium levels in the blood
- causing nausea
- vomiting
- loss of appetite
- constipation
- thirst
- frequent urination
- weakness and
- over time
- kidney damage. Allergic reactions and injection
- site reactions may occur. Consult a doctor or pharmacist if you experience any unexpected reaction.
Precautions
- Prescription only (List II). Follow the stated doses. Do not use if you have high blood calcium or high calcium in the urine
