Indication
Single-dose treatment of vaginal candidiasis (vaginal yeast infection) and other vaginal infections caused by fungi and Trichomonas. Clotrimazole is a broad spectrum fungicide and trichomonacide that relieves vaginal itching, burning and abnormal discharge.
Ingredients
- Clotrimazole USP 500 mg
Direction
For vaginal use only. Insert one 500 mg vaginal tablet deep into the vagina, preferably at bedtime, using the applicator provided. A single insert is usually sufficient. Lie down after insertion so the tablet dissolves in place. Do not swallow. Follow the directions in the enclosed insert.
Side effects
- Mild local burning
- itching or irritation of the vagina
- Vaginal discomfort or increased discharge shortly after insertion
- Lower abdominal cramps in some women
- Rare allergic reactions such as rash or swelling
- If symptoms persist or worsen
- consult a doctor or pharmacist
Precautions
- For vaginal use only
- do not swallow the tablet
- Do not use if you are allergic to clotrimazole or any other imidazole antifungal
- Consult a doctor before use if you are pregnant or breastfeeding
- especially in the first trimester
- Clotrimazole may damage latex condoms and diaphragms
- use another method of contraception during treatment
- See a doctor if this is your first vaginal infection
- if you have fever
- abdominal pain
- foul
- smelling discharge
- or if the infection returns after treatment
