Indication
Symptomatic treatment of mild to moderate pain and/or fever in infants and young children. The rectal route is useful when a baby is vomiting, refuses to swallow, or cannot take medicine by mouth.
Ingredients
- Paracetamol 100 mg
Direction
Rectal route only. Infants 4 to 11 months: 1 suppository, the dose may be repeated every 6 hours if needed; do not exceed 4 suppositories per day. Children 12 to 23 months: 1.5 suppositories, the dose may be repeated every 6 hours if needed; do not exceed 4 suppositories per day. Insert the suppository deep into the rectum. Do not swallow.
Side effects
- Local irritation
- burning or discomfort in the rectum
- Skin rash or itching in rare cases
- Rare allergic reactions
- Liver damage may occur if the recommended dose is exceeded
- If symptoms persist or worsen
- consult a doctor or pharmacist
Precautions
- Do not exceed the recommended dose
- overdose of paracetamol can cause serious liver damage
- Do not use together with other medicines containing paracetamol
- Not for use in patients with severe liver disease or known allergy to paracetamol
- Do not use if there is rectal bleeding
- inflammation or recent rectal surgery
- Consult a doctor promptly for fever in a baby under 3 months
- or if fever lasts more than 3 days or pain lasts more than 5 days
