Indication

Intravenous infusion used to supply energy and to replace body fluid and electrolytes. Given to patients who cannot take enough fluid or food by mouth, and as a carrier fluid for intravenous medicines. For use by a healthcare professional only.

Ingredients

• Glucose 5 g per 100 mL
• Sodium Chloride 0.9 g per 100 mL

Direction

For intravenous infusion by a healthcare professional. The dose and infusion rate are determined by the doctor according to the patient's age, weight, clinical condition and fluid and electrolyte balance. Single use only; discard any unused solution.

Side effects

• Possible reactions include pain
• irritation or inflammation of the vein at the infusion site
• fluid overload
• swelling

Precautions

• For intravenous use only and must be administered by a healthcare professional. Inspect the bottle before use: do not use if the solution is cloudy or discoloured
