Used by people with diabetes and by health workers to monitor blood sugar levels. Direction

Insert an On Call Extra test strip into the meter. Prick a fingertip with the lancing device and sterile lancet, then touch the blood drop to the end of the strip; the result appears in about 4 seconds. Use the clear cap for testing on the forearm or palm. Follow the user's manual and quick reference guide supplied in the box, and use only On Call Extra test strips and lancets. Use each lancet once only and dispose of it safely.

Side effects
  • Fingertip pricking may cause minor pain
  • bruising or bleeding at the puncture site
  • and rarely local infection if hygiene is poor. Do not change your diabetes treatment based on a single reading
  • if results are unexpected or you feel unwell
  • consult a doctor or pharmacist.
Precautions
  • For in
  • vitro diagnostic use only — only for use outside the body. Use only with On Call Extra test strips
  • other strips will give wrong results. Never share the lancing device or lancets between people
  • as this risks blood
  • borne infection. Wash and dry hands before testing. Check the strip expiry date and run the control solution when opening a new vial or if results seem wrong. Not a substitute for medical advice or for laboratory testing — discuss your readings and any treatment changes with a doctor or pharmacist. Keep out of reach of children
  • the lancets are sharp.
