Indication
Topical antiseptic solution for superficial and small-area wounds and burns, and for antisepsis of the skin at the operative field. It is a germicidal first-aid antiseptic that kills or inhibits micro-organisms on the skin.
Ingredients
- Povidone
- iodine 10% (equivalent to 1% available iodine)
Direction
Cutaneous route. Clean the affected area. Dilute 1/10 with water or sterile physiological saline for wound washing, and to 2% in sterile physiological saline for wound irrigation. Apply a small amount of the product to the area 1 to 3 times a day. It may be covered with a sterile dressing. For pre-operative use, follow medical instructions.
Side effects
- A certain cytotoxicity may occur on mucous membranes and deep tissues
- as well as local skin reactions (caustic dermatitis and contact eczema). It may cause irritation or allergic reactions in some people. If you experience any adverse effects
- consult a doctor or pharmacist.
Precautions
- For external use only. Contraindicated in pregnant or breastfeeding women. Do not use in the eyes or apply on large surfaces of the body. Use with caution in all situations likely to favour systemic passage of iodine
- in particular in children under 30 months. Stop use and consult a doctor in case of a reaction
- itching or swelling. Iodine can affect thyroid function
- especially in people with a history of thyroid disorders or receiving repeated applications. For deep or puncture wounds
- animal bites or serious burns
- consult a doctor. In case of ingestion
- immediately consult a doctor or contact a poison control centre. Keep out of reach of children. Consult a doctor or pharmacist before use.
