Indication
A sterile, single-use winged (butterfly) intravenous needle with flexible tubing, used to puncture a vein for short-term intravenous infusion, injection of medicines or blood sampling. The small 24G size is commonly used for children, for scalp veins in infants and for patients with small or fragile veins. Use is restricted to trained healthcare staff.

Direction
For use by trained healthcare staff. Select and disinfect the puncture site, then select the appropriate needle gauge. Remove the set from its sterile pouch and take off the needle cover. Hold the needle by its wings, insert it into the vein at a shallow angle with the bevel up, and check for blood flashback in the tubing. Secure the wings to the skin with tape and connect the tubing to the infusion line or syringe. Single use only; discard the needle in an appropriate sharps container after use.
Side effects
- Effects that may be caused by use of the device include pain at the puncture site
