Indication
- Schizophrenia treatment - Bipolar I acute manic episodes - Irritability associated with autistic disorder - Aggression in conduct disorders
Ingredients
- Risperidone
Direction
Take orally once or twice daily with or without food. Dosage must be strictly adjusted by a physician based on response.
Side effects
- Somnolence and fatigue
- Extrapyramidal symptoms (movement disorders)
- Increased appetite and weight gain
- Hyperprolactinemia (elevated prolactin levels)
- Dizziness and headache
Precautions
- Not for dementia
- related psychosis in elderly
- Risk of Neuroleptic Malignant Syndrome
- Monitor for tardive dyskinesia signs
- Potential for weight gain and diabetes
- Risk of orthostatic hypotension
