Cefiget 100 mg / 5 mL

Indication

For treatment of susceptible bacterial infections, including uncomplicated urinary tract infections, otitis media, pharyngitis and tonsillitis, and acute exacerbations of chronic bronchitis. Use only for infections proven or strongly suspected to be bacterial.

Ingredients

• Cefixime 100 mg per 5 mL after reconstitution (as cefixime trihydrate)

Direction

Use only as prescribed by a physician. Add previously boiled and cooled water to the mark on the bottle and shake vigorously. Shake well before each dose and keep tightly closed after use. Use within 7 days at room temperature or within 14 days when refrigerated.

Side effects

• Common adverse effects include diarrhea
• nausea
• loose stools
• abdominal pain
• indigestion
• and vomiting.
• Serious but less common effects include severe allergic reactions and Clostridioides difficile
• associated diarrhea.

Precautions

• Prescription medicine. Do not use in patients allergic to cefixime or other cephalosporin antibiotics.
• Tell the prescriber about penicillin allergy
• kidney impairment
• pregnancy
• breastfeeding
• and all other medicines. Dose adjustment may be required in renal impairment.
• Stop use and seek urgent medical care for a severe allergic reaction. Contact a clinician for severe or persistent diarrhea because antibiotic
• associated colitis can occur.
