Indication

Prescription source of water and electrolytes and, when clinically appropriate, intravenous diluent.

Ingredients

• Sodium chloride 0.9 g per 100 mL

Direction

For intravenous administration by a healthcare professional only. Individualize volume and rate to fluid status, electrolytes, age and condition.

Side effects

• Infusion
• site pain
• irritation or phlebitis may occur.
• Excess or rapid infusion may cause fluid overload
• edema
• high sodium or high chloride.

Precautions

• Monitor fluids and electrolytes in heart
• kidney or liver impairment and at extremes of age.
• Use only if the solution is clear and container and seal are intact
• verify additive compatibility.
