Indication

Prescription antibacterial treatment for susceptible infections when selected by a physician.

Ingredients

• Sulfamethoxazole 800 mg and trimethoprim 160 mg per scored tablet

Direction

Take by mouth exactly as prescribed and complete the prescribed course. The dose and duration depend on the infection and kidney function.

Side effects

• Nausea
• vomiting
• diarrhoea
• headache
• or rash may occur.
• Stop and seek urgent care for severe rash
• facial swelling
• breathing difficulty
• unusual bruising
• jaundice
• or persistent fever.

Precautions

• Do not use with allergy to sulfonamides
• trimethoprim
• or any component
• avoid during pregnancy unless a physician specifically decides otherwise.
• Tell the prescriber about kidney or liver disease
• blood disorders
• folate deficiency
• breastfeeding
• and all medicines
• especially warfarin or methotrexate.
