Dosmectine Suspension 3 g/20 mL

Indication

Symptomatic treatment of acute or chronic diarrhoea and pain associated with oesophageal, gastric, duodenal, or intestinal disorders, with appropriate rehydration when diarrhoea is present.

Ingredients

• Dioctahedral smectite (diosmectite) 3 g per 20 mL sachet

Direction

Adults: take one 20 mL sachet 3–4 times daily between meals; in acute diarrhoea the daily dose may be doubled for the first 3 days. Children older than 24 months: one sachet 2–3 times daily for the first 3 days, then twice daily for 4 days. For oesophagitis, take after meals. Follow medical advice and maintain oral rehydration.

• Stop and seek care for facial or throat swelling

• blood in stool
• dehydration
• or persistent diarrhoea.

Precautions

• Do not use with allergy to diosmectite or any component
• separate other oral medicines because diosmectite can reduce their absorption.
• Children with acute diarrhoea require oral rehydration
• consult a clinician for pregnancy
• breastfeeding
• severe symptoms
• fever
• dehydration
• or prolonged use.
