Smecta Orange-Vanilla 3 g

Indication

Symptomatic treatment of acute diarrhoea in adults and children 2 years and older together with oral rehydration, chronic functional diarrhoea in adults, and functional intestinal pain in adults.

Ingredients

• Diosmectite 3 g per sachet

Direction

For acute diarrhoea, use oral rehydration and follow the package leaflet or clinician's age-specific dose. Mix each sachet with water immediately before use; for children it may be mixed with a semi-liquid food. Seek advice if symptoms persist or worsen.

Side effects

• Constipation is common
• vomiting
• rash
• hives
• itching
• or angioedema may occur.
• Stop and seek urgent care for facial or throat swelling
• breathing difficulty
• severe rash
• blood in stool
• high fever
• dehydration
• or persistent diarrhoea.

Precautions

• Do not use with allergy to diosmectite or a component. Separate other oral medicines because diosmectite can reduce their absorption.
• Acute diarrhoea requires rehydration. Do not use in children under 2 years
• ask a clinician during pregnancy or breastfeeding and avoid prolonged unsupervised use.
