Indication

Symptomatic treatment of certain forms of constipation in infants and children, and preparation for selected rectal examinations when directed.

Ingredients

• Crystallizable sorbitol 70% 2.679 g
• Sodium citrate 0.270 g
• Sodium lauryl sulfoacetate 70% 0.0387 g per single
• dose container

Direction

Rectal use only; do not swallow. A caregiver should administer exactly according to the leaflet or clinician; generally acts within 5–20 minutes.

Side effects

• Rectal discomfort
• burning
• abdominal pain
• diarrhea or local irritation may occur.

Precautions

• Do not use during pregnancy unless no alternative is available. For a child
• seek advice for persistent constipation
• abdominal pain
• vomiting
• bleeding or suspected obstruction
• avoid prolonged use.
