Indication

For treatment of selected bacterial infections caused by susceptible organisms. Use should be reserved and guided by a clinician because fluoroquinolones have important safety risks.

Ingredients

• Ciprofloxacin 500 mg

Direction

Prescription only. Take exactly as directed and complete the prescribed course. Take ciprofloxacin at least 2 hours before or 6 hours after antacids, sucralfate, iron, zinc, calcium, or magnesium products.

Side effects

• Nausea
• diarrhea
• abdominal discomfort
• headache
• dizziness
• or rash may occur.
• Serious effects can include tendon inflammation or rupture
• peripheral neuropathy
• central nervous system effects
• severe allergy
• or abnormal heart rhythm
• stop and seek medical advice for warning symptoms.

Precautions

• Avoid in known myasthenia gravis. Tendon risk is higher in adults over 60
• corticosteroid users
• transplant recipients
• renal failure
• or previous tendon disorders.
• Dose adjustment may be needed with kidney disease. Tell the prescriber about pregnancy
• breastfeeding
• heart rhythm problems
• seizures
• diabetes
• and all other medicines.
