Indication

As an adjunct to diet and exercise to improve blood glucose control in adults and children 10 years and older with type 2 diabetes mellitus.

Ingredients

• Metformin hydrochloride 850 mg

Direction

Use only as prescribed. Take with meals at the dose and frequency directed by the prescriber to reduce digestive side effects.

Side effects

• Diarrhea
• nausea
• vomiting
• abdominal discomfort
• gas
• or loss of appetite may occur.
• Metformin can rarely cause serious lactic acidosis
• seek urgent care for marked weakness
• breathing difficulty
• unusual sleepiness
• or persistent vomiting.

Precautions

• Kidney function should be checked before and during treatment. Tell the prescriber before iodinated contrast procedures or surgery.
• Discuss liver disease
• heavy alcohol use
• dehydration
• pregnancy
• breastfeeding
• and all other medicines with the prescriber.
