Indication

Used with diet and exercise to improve blood-glucose control in people with type 2 diabetes mellitus.

Ingredients

• Metformin hydrochloride 500 mg

Direction

Take orally with or after meals exactly as prescribed. The dose is individualized according to blood-glucose control and tolerability.

Side effects

• Nausea
• diarrhea
• stomach discomfort
• vomiting
• reduced appetite
• metallic taste
• and vitamin B12 deficiency may occur
• lactic acidosis is rare but serious. Consult a doctor or pharmacist before use and stop if irritation or allergy occurs.

Precautions

• Tell a doctor about kidney
• liver
• or heart problems and before iodinated contrast imaging. Seek urgent care for symptoms that may indicate lactic acidosis
• such as severe weakness
• breathing difficulty
• or persistent vomiting.
