Indication
Used with diet and exercise to improve blood-glucose control in people with type 2 diabetes mellitus.
Ingredients
- Metformin hydrochloride 500 mg
Direction
Take orally with or after meals exactly as prescribed. The dose is individualized according to blood-glucose control and tolerability.
Side effects
- Nausea
- diarrhea
- stomach discomfort
- vomiting
- reduced appetite
- metallic taste
- and vitamin B12 deficiency may occur
- lactic acidosis is rare but serious. Consult a doctor or pharmacist before use and stop if irritation or allergy occurs.
Precautions
- Tell a doctor about kidney
- liver
- or heart problems and before iodinated contrast imaging. Seek urgent care for symptoms that may indicate lactic acidosis
- such as severe weakness
- breathing difficulty
- or persistent vomiting.
