Adipin 5 mg

Indication

Adipin (Amlodipine) is a calcium channel blocker used for the treatment of hypertension (high blood pressure) and chronic stable angina pectoris. It relaxes blood vessels and reduces the workload on the heart.

Ingredients

• Amlodipine 5 mg

Direction

Adults: 5 mg once daily. May be increased to 10 mg once daily after 7–14 days if needed. Elderly or hepatic impairment: start with 2.5 mg once daily.

Side effects

• Peripheral oedema (ankle swelling)
• Flushing
• Headache
• dizziness
• Palpitations
• Fatigue
• Nausea
• Rare: gingival hyperplasia
• severe hypotension

Precautions

• Contraindicated in severe hypotension
• cardiogenic shock
• and haemodynamically significant aortic stenosis.
• Use with caution in severe hepatic impairment and in patients with heart failure.
• Interactions: CYP3A4 inhibitors (e.g. ketoconazole
• ritonavir) may increase amlodipine plasma levels
• simvastatin dose limit 20 mg/day.
• Monitor blood pressure and heart rate regularly.
