Coversyl 5mg

Indication

Coversyl is an ACE inhibitor indicated for the treatment of hypertension, symptomatic heart failure, and reduction of the risk of cardiac events in patients with stable coronary artery disease.

Ingredients

• Perindopril arginine 5 mg

Direction

Adults: For hypertension, 5 mg once daily in the morning; may be increased to 10 mg once daily after one month if necessary. For heart failure, start with 2.5 mg once daily in the morning under close medical supervision. Take before a meal.

Side effects

• Common: dry cough
• dizziness
• headache
• asthenia.
• Common: nausea
• vomiting
• abdominal pain
• diarrhoea
• constipation.
• Uncommon: angioedema (stop immediately — seek emergency care).
• Uncommon: hypotension
• syncope.
• Uncommon: rash
• pruritus.
• Rare: severe skin reactions
• renal impairment.

Precautions

• Contraindicated in patients with a history of angioedema related to prior ACE inhibitor therapy.
• Contraindicated in pregnancy (2nd and 3rd trimesters) and breastfeeding.
• Contraindicated in combination with aliskiren in diabetic patients or those with renal impairment.
• Monitor renal function and electrolytes.
• Risk of hypotension
• especially in heart failure or volume
• depleted patients.
• May cause dry persistent cough.
• Use with caution in renal or hepatic impairment.
