Atenolol Denk 50 50 mg

Indication

Atenolol Denk 50 contains Atenolol, a cardioselective beta-1 adrenoceptor blocker used to treat hypertension, angina pectoris, cardiac arrhythmias, and following myocardial infarction to improve survival.

Ingredients

• Atenolol 50 mg

Direction

Adults: For hypertension, 25–50 mg once daily initially; may be increased to 100 mg daily if needed. For angina, 50–100 mg daily in divided doses. Take at the same time each day, orally, with water.

Side effects

• Common: bradycardia
• cold extremities
• fatigue
• dizziness.
• Common: nausea
• diarrhoea.
• Uncommon: bronchospasm (especially in asthmatic patients).
• Uncommon: hypotension
• heart failure.
• Uncommon: depression
• sleep disturbances.
• Rare: thrombocytopenia
• skin reactions.

Precautions

• Contraindicated in cardiogenic shock
• uncontrolled heart failure
• second

• degree AV block
• sick sinus syndrome
• severe bradycardia.
• Contraindicated in severe peripheral arterial disease.
• Do not abruptly discontinue — taper dose gradually to avoid rebound angina or hypertension.
• Use with caution in asthma or COPD (bronchospasm risk despite cardioselectivity).
• Use with caution in diabetes — may mask signs of hypoglycaemia.
• May cause fatigue and cold extremities.
• Use with caution in renal impairment.
