Adipin 5 5 mg

Indication

Adipin 5 contains Amlodipine, a dihydropyridine calcium channel blocker used to treat hypertension (high blood pressure) and angina pectoris (chest pain). It reduces blood pressure and the frequency of angina attacks.

Ingredients

• Amlodipine 5 mg

Direction

Adults: 5 mg once daily orally. The dose may be increased to 10 mg once daily depending on clinical response. Elderly patients should start at 2.5 mg.

Side effects

• Very common: oedema (ankle/peripheral oedema).
• Common: headache
• dizziness
• somnolence
• palpitations
• flushing.
• Common: nausea
• abdominal pain.
• Common: fatigue.
• Uncommon: dyspnoea
• rhinitis
• mood changes.
• Rare: gingival hyperplasia
• gynaecomastia.
• Very rare: severe skin reactions.

Precautions

• Contraindicated in patients with severe hypotension.
• Contraindicated in patients with cardiogenic shock.
• Contraindicated in patients with unstable angina (except vasospastic angina).
• Use with caution in hepatic impairment.
• May cause peripheral oedema.
• Caution with concomitant use of other antihypertensives
• CYP3A4 inhibitors (e.g.
• ketoconazole
• cyclosporin).
• Not recommended in patients with aortic stenosis.
