Rovista 20 20 mg

Indication

Rovista 20 contains Rosuvastatin, an HMG-CoA reductase inhibitor (statin) used to reduce elevated LDL-cholesterol, total cholesterol, and triglycerides, and to raise HDL-cholesterol in primary hypercholesterolaemia and mixed dyslipidaemia, and to reduce cardiovascular risk.

• Rosuvastatin 20 mg

Direction

Adults: 20 mg once daily orally, taken at any time of day with or without food. Dose may be increased to 40 mg in high-risk patients under medical supervision. Swallow whole.

Side effects

• Common: headache
• myalgia
• nausea
• abdominal pain
• constipation
• dizziness.
• Uncommon: myopathy.
• Rare: rhabdomyolysis (stop immediately).
• Rare: hepatitis
• proteinuria.
• Very rare: interstitial lung disease.
• Rare: new
• onset diabetes mellitus.

Precautions

• Contraindicated in active liver disease or unexplained elevation of serum transaminases.
• Contraindicated in pregnancy and breastfeeding.
• Maximum dose 20 mg in Asian patients.
• Risk of myopathy and rhabdomyolysis — report unexplained muscle pain immediately.
• Monitor liver function and creatine kinase.
• Caution with ciclosporin
• warfarin
• fibrates
• and niacin.
• Reduce dose in renal impairment
• contraindicated in severe renal impairment.
