Indication
Rovista 20 contains Rosuvastatin, an HMG-CoA reductase inhibitor (statin) used to reduce elevated LDL-cholesterol, total cholesterol, and triglycerides, and to raise HDL-cholesterol in primary hypercholesterolaemia and mixed dyslipidaemia, and to reduce cardiovascular risk.
Ingredients
- Rosuvastatin 20 mg
Direction
Adults: 20 mg once daily orally, taken at any time of day with or without food. Dose may be increased to 40 mg in high-risk patients under medical supervision. Swallow whole.
Side effects
- Common: headache
- myalgia
- nausea
- abdominal pain
- constipation
- dizziness.
- Uncommon: myopathy.
- Rare: rhabdomyolysis (stop immediately).
- Rare: hepatitis
- proteinuria.
- Very rare: interstitial lung disease.
- Rare: new
- onset diabetes mellitus.
Precautions
- Contraindicated in active liver disease or unexplained elevation of serum transaminases.
- Contraindicated in pregnancy and breastfeeding.
- Maximum dose 20 mg in Asian patients.
- Risk of myopathy and rhabdomyolysis — report unexplained muscle pain immediately.
- Monitor liver function and creatine kinase.
- Caution with ciclosporin
- warfarin
- fibrates
- and niacin.
- Reduce dose in renal impairment
- contraindicated in severe renal impairment.
