Indication
Efferalgan contains Paracetamol (acetaminophen), an analgesic and antipyretic agent used to relieve mild-to-moderate pain (headache, dental pain, musculoskeletal pain, dysmenorrhoea) and to reduce fever.
Ingredients
- Paracetamol (Acetaminophen) 300 mg
Direction
Adults: 500–1000 mg every 4–6 hours as needed, up to 4 g/day maximum. Children: dose based on weight (10–15 mg/kg per dose). The effervescent/suppository form dose is adjusted per formulation. Do not exceed the maximum daily dose.
Side effects
- Rare (at recommended doses): skin reactions (rash
- urticaria).
- Very rare: severe skin reactions (Stevens
- Johnson syndrome — stop immediately).
- Overdose: hepatic necrosis
- renal tubular necrosis — medical emergency.
Precautions
- Do not exceed the recommended dose — overdose can cause severe liver damage.
- Caution in hepatic impairment and chronic alcohol use.
- Avoid concurrent use of other paracetamol
- containing products.
- Caution in patients with renal impairment.
- Discontinue and consult a doctor if symptoms persist more than 3 days (fever) or 5 days (pain).
