Flexosone Nasal Spray 50 µg

Indication

Flexosone Nasal Spray contains Fluticasone propionate, a topical intranasal corticosteroid used for the prophylaxis and treatment of seasonal and perennial allergic rhinitis, and non-allergic rhinitis.

Ingredients

• Fluticasone propionate 50 micrograms per spray

Direction

Adults and children aged 12 years and over: 2 sprays (100 mcg) into each nostril once daily in the morning. May reduce to 1 spray per nostril once daily when symptoms are controlled. Children 4–11 years: 1 spray per nostril once daily. Shake well before use.

Side effects

• Common: headache
• nasal bleeding
• nasal dryness
• nasal irritation.
• Common: unpleasant taste and smell.
• Uncommon: nasal septal perforation (with long
• term use).
• Rare: glaucoma
• cataracts
• raised intraocular pressure.
• Rare: Cushingoid features with high doses or prolonged use.

Precautions

• Use with caution in patients with untreated nasal infections.
• Long
• term use may cause nasal mucosal atrophy or septal perforation — monitor.
• Caution in patients with history of nasal surgery.
• Concurrent use with ritonavir is not recommended (increased systemic steroid exposure).
• Growth retardation may occur in children — use the lowest effective dose.
• May unmask systemic corticosteroid insufficiency when switching from oral steroids.
