Indication
NEO-K Forte Syrup is a combination cough syrup. Dihydrocodeine is an opioid antitussive; methylephedrine is a bronchodilator/nasal decongestant; chlorpheniramine is an antihistamine; and guaifenesin is an expectorant. Used for the symptomatic relief of cough associated with colds, upper respiratory infections, and bronchitis.
Ingredients
- Dihydrocodeine bitartrate 5 mg
- DL
- Methylephedrine hydrochloride 17.5 mg
- Chlorpheniramine maleate 1.5 mg
- Guaifenesin 50 mg
Direction
Adults: 5β10 mL (one or two teaspoons) three to four times daily. Children (6β12 years): 2.5β5 mL three times daily. Children under 6: consult a physician. Do not exceed the recommended dose.
Side effects
- Common: drowsiness
- dizziness
- sedation.
- Common: nausea
- vomiting
- constipation.
- Common: dry mouth
- blurred vision.
- Uncommon: tachycardia
- palpitations.
- Rare: dependence with prolonged use.
- Rare: hypersensitivity reactions.
Precautions
- Contains a narcotic antitussive (dihydrocodeine) β risk of dependence and abuse.
- Contraindicated in patients with respiratory depression.
- Contraindicated in patients taking MAO inhibitors.
- Use with caution in asthma
- COPD
- and patients with compromised respiratory function.
- May cause drowsiness β do not drive or operate machinery.
- Avoid alcohol.
- Not recommended in children under 6 without medical advice.
- Use with caution in elderly and debilitated patients.
- Contraindicated in patients with narrow
- angle glaucoma
- urinary retention
- and prostate hypertrophy.
