CLAROBIL 500 500 mg

Indication

CLAROBIL 500 contains clarithromycin, a macrolide antibiotic used to treat bacterial infections including community-acquired pneumonia, sinusitis, bronchitis, pharyngitis, tonsillitis, skin infections, and as part of combination therapy for Helicobacter pylori eradication.

Ingredients

• Clarithromycin 500 mg

Direction

Adults: 250–500 mg twice daily for 7–14 days depending on the indication. For H. pylori eradication: as directed by physician in combination therapy. Take with or without food.

Side effects

• Nausea
• vomiting
• and abdominal discomfort.
• Diarrhoea.
• Metallic or abnormal taste.
• Headache.
• Elevated liver enzymes.
• Allergic skin reactions.

Precautions

• Use with caution in patients with hepatic or renal impairment.
• QT prolongation risk
• avoid in patients with pre
• existing cardiac arrhythmia or those taking other QT
• prolonging drugs.
• Many drug interactions (CYP3A4 inhibitor)
• check for interactions with statins
• warfarin
• colchicine
• etc.
• Contraindicated with certain drugs (e.g.
• cisapride
• pimozide
• ergotamine).
• Not recommended in pregnancy (first trimester).
• Complete the full course of treatment.
