CLAVAMYN 625 Amoxicillin 500 mg + Clavulanic Acid 125 mg)

Indication

CLAVAMYN 625 is a broad-spectrum antibiotic combining amoxicillin with clavulanic acid (a beta-lactamase inhibitor). It is used for treatment of bacterial infections including sinusitis, otitis media, lower respiratory tract infections, urinary tract infections, and skin and soft tissue infections.

Ingredients

• Amoxicillin 500 mg
• Clavulanic acid 125 mg

Direction

Adults and children over 40 kg: 1 tablet (500 mg/125 mg) three times daily, or as directed by a physician. Take at the start of a meal to reduce gastrointestinal side effects. Complete the full course of treatment.

Side effects

• Diarrhoea (common).
• Nausea and vomiting.
• Skin rash.
• Candidiasis (oral or vaginal).
• Elevated liver enzymes.
• Allergic reactions including anaphylaxis (rare).

Precautions

• Contraindicated in patients with penicillin hypersensitivity or prior Augmentin
• associated jaundice.
• Use with caution in patients with renal impairment.
• Risk of Clostridium difficile
• associated diarrhoea.
• May reduce the efficacy of oral contraceptives.
• Do not use for viral infections.
• May interact with warfarin and methotrexate.
