Indication
CLAVAMYN 625 is a broad-spectrum antibiotic combining amoxicillin with clavulanic acid (a beta-lactamase inhibitor). It is used for treatment of bacterial infections including sinusitis, otitis media, lower respiratory tract infections, urinary tract infections, and skin and soft tissue infections.
Ingredients
- Amoxicillin 500 mg
- Clavulanic acid 125 mg
Direction
Adults and children over 40 kg: 1 tablet (500 mg/125 mg) three times daily, or as directed by a physician. Take at the start of a meal to reduce gastrointestinal side effects. Complete the full course of treatment.
Side effects
- Diarrhoea (common).
- Nausea and vomiting.
- Skin rash.
- Candidiasis (oral or vaginal).
- Elevated liver enzymes.
- Allergic reactions including anaphylaxis (rare).
Precautions
- Contraindicated in patients with penicillin hypersensitivity or prior Augmentin
- associated jaundice.
- Use with caution in patients with renal impairment.
- Risk of Clostridium difficile
- associated diarrhoea.
- May reduce the efficacy of oral contraceptives.
- Do not use for viral infections.
- May interact with warfarin and methotrexate.
