Indication

Treatment of hypertension and prophylaxis of stable and vasospastic angina pectoris when lower doses are insufficient.

Ingredients

• Amlodipine besilate 10 mg

Direction

Adults: 10 mg once daily (maximum recommended dose). For patients newly initiating therapy, start at 5 mg once daily and titrate upward. Elderly: Start at 2.5–5 mg. Take with or without food.

Side effects

• Peripheral oedema (ankle swelling).
• Flushing.
• Headache.
• Dizziness.
• Palpitations.
• Fatigue.
• Nausea.

Precautions

• Use with caution in severe aortic stenosis and severe hepatic impairment.
• May cause vasodilatory hypotension.
• Grapefruit juice may increase plasma concentrations — avoid.
• Monitor blood pressure regularly.
• Keep out of reach of children.
