TINITAB 500mg

Indication

TINITAB contains tinidazole, a nitroimidazole antibiotic and antiprotozoal agent used for treatment of amoebiasis (intestinal and extra-intestinal), giardiasis, trichomoniasis, anaerobic bacterial infections, and Helicobacter pylori eradication (in combination therapy).

Ingredients

• Tinidazole 500 mg

Direction

Adults: For giardiasis/trichomoniasis: 2 g (4 tablets) as a single dose. For amoebiasis: 2 g daily for 3 days. For bacterial infections: 2 g as a loading dose, then 1 g daily or 500 mg twice daily. Take with food.

Side effects

• Nausea and gastrointestinal discomfort.
• Metallic or bitter taste.
• Headache.
• Dark
• coloured urine.
• Dizziness.
• Peripheral neuropathy (with prolonged use).

Precautions

• Avoid alcohol during treatment and for 72 hours after the last dose (disulfiram
• like reaction).
• Contraindicated in the first trimester of pregnancy.
• Use with caution in hepatic impairment.
• May interact with warfarin
• phenytoin
• and fluorouracil.
• Risk of peripheral neuropathy with prolonged high
• dose therapy.
