Indication

Fluvermal (manufactured by Johnson & Johnson) contains mebendazole, a broad-spectrum anthelmintic (anti-worm) agent. It is indicated for treatment of intestinal worm infestations including enterobiasis (threadworm/pinworm), ascariasis (roundworm), trichuriasis (whipworm), hookworm infections, and mixed helminth infestations.

Ingredients

• Mebendazole 100 mg

Direction

For threadworm (pinworm): 1 tablet (100 mg) as a single dose; repeat after 2 weeks if reinfection suspected. For roundworm, hookworm, whipworm: 1 tablet (100 mg) twice daily for 3 consecutive days. All household members should be treated simultaneously for pinworm. Chew, swallow, or crush the tablet.

Side effects

• Gastrointestinal discomfort (nausea
• diarrhoea
• abdominal pain) — usually mild and transient.
• Allergic skin reactions (rare).
• Elevated liver enzymes (rare
• with prolonged high
• dose use).

Precautions

• Not recommended in children under 2 years (limited data).
• Not recommended in the first trimester of pregnancy
• use with caution in second and third trimesters.
• Implement hygiene measures alongside treatment to prevent reinfection.
• Consult a physician if symptoms persist after treatment.
• Rarely may cause serious skin reactions — discontinue if rash occurs.
