Indication
Roxigin 150 contains roxithromycin, a macrolide antibiotic used for treatment of respiratory tract infections (including community-acquired pneumonia, bronchitis, sinusitis), ear, nose and throat infections, skin and soft tissue infections, and urogenital infections caused by Chlamydia.
Ingredients
- Roxithromycin 150 mg
Direction
Adults: 150 mg twice daily (morning and evening), or 300 mg once daily, for 5–10 days. Take on an empty stomach, 15 minutes before meals, with a full glass of water.
Side effects
- Nausea and gastrointestinal discomfort.
- Diarrhoea.
- Abdominal pain.
- Elevated liver enzymes.
- Skin rash.
- QT prolongation (rare).
Precautions
- Use with caution in patients with severe hepatic impairment.
- QT prolongation risk — avoid concurrent use of QT
- prolonging drugs.
- Drug interactions (CYP3A4 inhibitor): warfarin
- ciclosporin
- ergotamine
- digoxin.
- Use with caution during pregnancy and breastfeeding — consult physician.
- Complete the full course of treatment.
