CEFIWEL-200 DT Cefixime 200 mg

Indication

CEFIWEL-200 DT contains cefixime, a third-generation oral cephalosporin antibiotic used for urinary tract infections, otitis media, pharyngitis, tonsillitis, bronchitis, typhoid, and uncomplicated gonorrhoea.

Ingredients

• Cefixime 200 mg

Direction

Adults and children over 50 kg: 200–400 mg once daily or in two divided doses for 7–14 days. Children under 50 kg: 8 mg/kg/day. The dispersible tablet (DT) may be dissolved in water before swallowing. Take with or without food.

Side effects

• Diarrhoea (common).
• Nausea and abdominal discomfort.
• Skin rash.
• Elevated liver enzymes.
• Allergic reactions (rare).

• Use with caution in penicillin allergy (cross
• reactivity possible).
• Dose adjustment in renal impairment.
• Risk of antibiotic
• associated diarrhoea.
• Complete the full prescribed course.
