AMOXMASTER Amoxicillin 500 mg

Indication

AMOXMASTER contains amoxicillin, a broad-spectrum aminopenicillin antibiotic used for treatment of ear, nose and throat infections, lower respiratory tract infections, urinary tract infections, skin infections, and H. pylori eradication (in combination).

Ingredients

• Amoxicillin trihydrate 500 mg

Direction

Adults and children over 40 kg: 250–500 mg every 8 hours (3 times daily) for 5–14 days. Children under 40 kg: 40–90 mg/kg/day in divided doses as directed. Take with or without food.

Side effects

• Diarrhoea.
• Nausea and vomiting.
• Skin rash.
• Candidiasis (oral or vaginal).
• Allergic reactions including anaphylaxis (rare).

Precautions

• Contraindicated in patients with penicillin hypersensitivity.
• Use with caution in patients with renal impairment.
• May cause maculopapular rash in patients with glandular fever.
• Risk of Clostridium difficile
• associated diarrhoea.
• Complete the full prescribed course.
• Not active against beta
• lactamase
• producing organisms.
