BRIDOXIM DT Cefpodoxime 200 mg

Indication

BRIDOXIM DT contains cefpodoxime, a third-generation oral cephalosporin antibiotic used for community-acquired pneumonia, acute exacerbations of bronchitis, sinusitis, otitis media, pharyngitis, urinary tract infections, and gonorrhoea.

Ingredients

• Cefpodoxime proxetil 200 mg

Direction

Adults and children over 12 years: 100–200 mg twice daily for 5–14 days. Children under 12 years: 8–10 mg/kg/day in divided doses. The dispersible tablet (DT) should be dispersed in a small amount of water. Take with food to enhance absorption.

Side effects

• Diarrhoea.
• Nausea and abdominal discomfort.
• Headache.
• Skin rash.
• Elevated liver enzymes.
• Allergic reactions (rare).

Precautions

• Use with caution in patients with penicillin allergy (cross
• reactivity possible).
• Dose adjustment required in renal impairment.
• Risk of antibiotic
• associated diarrhoea.
• Absorption significantly enhanced when taken with food.
• Complete the full course of treatment.
