Indication
BRIDOXIM DT contains cefpodoxime, a third-generation oral cephalosporin antibiotic used for community-acquired pneumonia, acute exacerbations of bronchitis, sinusitis, otitis media, pharyngitis, urinary tract infections, and gonorrhoea.
Ingredients
- Cefpodoxime proxetil 200 mg
Direction
Adults and children over 12 years: 100–200 mg twice daily for 5–14 days. Children under 12 years: 8–10 mg/kg/day in divided doses. The dispersible tablet (DT) should be dispersed in a small amount of water. Take with food to enhance absorption.
Side effects
- Diarrhoea.
- Nausea and abdominal discomfort.
- Headache.
- Skin rash.
- Elevated liver enzymes.
- Allergic reactions (rare).
Precautions
- Use with caution in patients with penicillin allergy (cross
- reactivity possible).
- Dose adjustment required in renal impairment.
- Risk of antibiotic
- associated diarrhoea.
- Absorption significantly enhanced when taken with food.
- Complete the full course of treatment.
