AIRFIX-O Cefixime 100 mg

Indication

AIRFIX-O contains cefixime 100 mg, a third-generation oral cephalosporin antibiotic used for urinary tract infections, otitis media, pharyngitis, tonsillitis, bronchitis, and typhoid fever. The 100 mg strength is often used in paediatric dosing.

Ingredients

• Cefixime 100 mg

Direction

Adults: 200–400 mg daily in one or two divided doses. Children (as paediatric dose): 8 mg/kg/day in one or two divided doses. Take with or without food.

Side effects

• Diarrhoea.
• Nausea and abdominal discomfort.
• Skin rash.
• Elevated liver enzymes.
• Allergic reactions (rare).

Precautions

• Use with caution in patients with penicillin allergy.
• Dose adjustment required in renal impairment.
• Risk of antibiotic
• associated diarrhoea.
• Complete the full course of treatment.
