Indication
AIRFIX-O contains cefixime 100 mg, a third-generation oral cephalosporin antibiotic used for urinary tract infections, otitis media, pharyngitis, tonsillitis, bronchitis, and typhoid fever. The 100 mg strength is often used in paediatric dosing.
Ingredients
- Cefixime 100 mg
Direction
Adults: 200β400 mg daily in one or two divided doses. Children (as paediatric dose): 8 mg/kg/day in one or two divided doses. Take with or without food.
Side effects
- Diarrhoea.
- Nausea and abdominal discomfort.
- Skin rash.
- Elevated liver enzymes.
- Allergic reactions (rare).
Precautions
- Use with caution in patients with penicillin allergy.
- Dose adjustment required in renal impairment.
- Risk of antibiotic
- associated diarrhoea.
- Complete the full course of treatment.
