Risek 20 (Omeprazole) 20 mg

Indication

Used for the treatment of gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), peptic ulcer disease, and as part of combination regimens for Helicobacter pylori eradication. Also used in the management of Zollinger-Ellison syndrome.

Ingredients

• Omeprazole 20 mg

Direction

Adults: 20 mg once daily before breakfast for 4–8 weeks, or as directed by a physician. For H. pylori eradication, combined with antibiotics per prescribed regimen. Swallow capsule whole.

Side effects

• Headache.
• Nausea
• diarrhoea
• abdominal pain.
• Flatulence
• constipation.
• Rare: hypomagnesaemia
• Clostridium difficile infection with prolonged use.

Precautions

• Long
• term use may lead to hypomagnesaemia and vitamin B12 deficiency.
• May mask signs of gastric malignancy.
• Use with caution in severe hepatic impairment.
• Avoid coadministration with atazanavir or clopidogrel (reduced efficacy).
• Keep out of reach of children.
