Esome 20 mg

Indication

Used for the treatment of gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), healing of erosive oesophagitis, and maintenance of healed oesophagitis. Also used in H. pylori eradication regimens and prevention of NSAID-associated ulcers.

Ingredients

• Esomeprazole 20 mg

Direction

Adults: 20 mg once daily before meals for 4 weeks (erosive oesophagitis) or as directed by a physician. For maintenance therapy, 20 mg once daily. Swallow capsule whole.

Side effects

• Headache.
• Nausea
• diarrhoea
• abdominal pain
• flatulence.
• Rare: hypomagnesaemia
• bone fracture risk with prolonged use.

Precautions

• Long
• term use may cause hypomagnesaemia and vitamin B12 deficiency.
• May mask symptoms of gastric malignancy.
• Reduce dose in severe hepatic impairment.
• Avoid coadministration with atazanavir or clopidogrel.
• Keep out of reach of children.
