Zevid D (Ofloxacin & Dexamethasone) Ofloxacin (0.3% w/v) + Dexamethasone Sodium Phosphate (0.1% w/v)

Indication

Combined antibiotic and corticosteroid ear/eye drops used for the treatment of bacterial infections with associated inflammation. Indicated for bacterial conjunctivitis, blepharitis, otitis externa, and other superficial infections of the ear or eye where both anti-infective and anti-inflammatory effects are needed.

Ingredients

• Ofloxacin 0.3% w/v
• Dexamethasone Sodium Phosphate 0.1% w/v

Direction

Eye: Instil 1–2 drops into the affected eye(s) 3–4 times daily, or as directed. Ear: Instil 3–4 drops into the affected ear 3–4 times daily. Duration typically 5–7 days or as instructed by a physician.

Side effects

• Local burning or stinging upon instillation.
• Transient blurred vision (eye use).
• Raised intraocular pressure with prolonged ophthalmic use.
• Rare: hypersensitivity reactions.

Precautions

• Do not use if eardrum is perforated (for ear use).
• Avoid prolonged use
• steroid component may raise intraocular pressure.
• Not for use in viral (herpes simplex) or fungal infections of the eye.
• Avoid contact lens use during ophthalmic therapy.
• Consult a doctor for use in children.
• Keep out of reach of children.
