Piyanchin (Naphazoline) 10 mL

Indication

Ophthalmic decongestant eye drops used for temporary relief of redness of the eye due to minor eye irritants (e.g. dust, smoke, smog, swimming). Acts as a sympathomimetic alpha-adrenergic agonist to produce vasoconstriction.

Ingredients

• Naphazoline Hydrochloride 0.01% or 0.012% w/v (typical concentration for ophthalmic use)

Direction

Adults: Instil 1–2 drops into the affected eye(s) up to 3–4 times daily. Do not use for more than 3–4 consecutive days without medical advice.

Side effects

• Transient burning or stinging upon instillation.
• Rebound redness with prolonged use.
• Pupil dilation.
• Rare: systemic effects (hypertension
• tachycardia) if absorbed.

Precautions

• Do not use for more than 3–4 consecutive days without consulting a doctor — rebound hyperaemia may occur.
• Contraindicated in patients with narrow
• angle glaucoma.
• Use with caution in patients with hypertension
• heart disease
• or hyperthyroidism.
• Avoid in patients taking MAO inhibitors.
• Not recommended for use in children under 6 years.
• Keep out of reach of children.
