Imoryl 2 mg (Lopéramide)

Indication

Used for symptomatic treatment of acute and chronic diarrhoea. Reduces bowel motility and fluid loss.

Ingredients

• Loperamide Hydrochloride 2 mg

Direction

Adults: 2 capsules (4 mg) initially, then 1 capsule (2 mg) after each loose stool. Maximum 8 capsules (16 mg) per day. Children (8–12 years): 1 capsule up to 3 times daily.

Side effects

• Constipation
• abdominal cramps.
• Nausea.
• Dizziness.
• Rare: paralytic ileus.

Precautions

• Contraindicated in acute dysentery and pseudomembranous colitis.
• Not recommended for children under 8 years.
• Maintain adequate hydration.
• Consult a doctor if diarrhoea persists beyond 48 hours or if fever or blood in stool is present.
• Use with caution in hepatic impairment.
• Keep out of reach of children.
