Indication
Intestinal antiseptic used for the treatment of acute bacterial diarrhoea and enterocolitis caused by susceptible organisms. Acts locally in the gastrointestinal tract without significant systemic absorption.
Ingredients
- Nifuroxazide 200 mg
Direction
Adults and children over 6 years: 200 mg (1 tablet or 5 mL suspension if applicable) 3–4 times daily for 5–7 days, or as directed by a physician.
Side effects
- Generally well tolerated.
- Rare: nausea
- vomiting.
- Allergic reactions (rare).
Precautions
- Not absorbed systemically
- not effective for systemic infections.
- Consult a doctor if diarrhoea is accompanied by high fever or blood in stool.
- Ensure adequate hydration during diarrhoea.
- Not recommended for children under 6 years without medical advice.
- Keep out of reach of children.
