Indication

Cefixime is a cephalosporin antibacterial used for susceptible bacterial infections, including uncomplicated urinary tract infections, pharyngitis and tonsillitis, acute exacerbations of chronic bronchitis, and uncomplicated cervical or urethral gonorrhea.

Ingredients

• Cefixime USP (as trihydrate)
• equivalent to anhydrous cefixime 200 mg

Direction

Use only as directed by a physician. The usual adult cefixime dose is 400 mg daily; complete the prescribed course even if symptoms improve.

Side effects

• Diarrhea
• nausea
• loose stools
• abdominal pain
• dyspepsia
• or vomiting may occur. Seek medical advice for severe or persistent symptoms.

Precautions

• Use only for a proven or strongly suspected bacterial infection. Tell a doctor about allergy to cefixime or other cephalosporins. Stop and seek urgent care for a serious allergic reaction.
