PEDIAPROFEN 50 mg/1.25 ml

Indication

PEDIAPROFEN (ibuprofen oral suspension) is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) indicated in children for the reduction of fever and the relief of mild to moderate pain such as headache, dental pain, and musculoskeletal pain.

Ingredients

• Ibuprofen 50 mg per 1.25 ml (40 mg/ml)

Direction

Dose is based on body weight (approximately 5–10 mg/kg per dose). Typical doses: 6–11 months (5–7.6 kg): 1.25 ml every 6–8 hours; 1–3 years (7.7–10.8 kg): 1.25 ml; 4–6 years: 2.5 ml; 7–9 years: 3.75 ml; 10–12 years: 5 ml. Give every 6–8 hours. Do not exceed 3 doses in 24 hours.

Side effects

• Gastrointestinal upset
• nausea
• vomiting.
• Rash or skin reactions (uncommon).
• Dizziness or headache.
• Renal effects with prolonged high
• dose use.

Precautions

• Do not use in children under 6 months.
• Avoid in children with known hypersensitivity to ibuprofen or other NSAIDs.
• Use with caution in children with asthma
• bleeding disorders
• or renal impairment.
• Do not exceed the recommended dose.
• Take with or after food to reduce gastrointestinal irritation.
• Avoid concurrent use with other NSAIDs.
