Indication
Neo-Betasone Cream is a topical combination of a corticosteroid (betamethasone valerate) and an aminoglycoside antibiotic (neomycin) for the treatment of corticosteroid-responsive skin conditions complicated by bacterial infection.
Ingredients
- Neomycin sulfate 0.5% w/w
- Betamethasone valerate 0.1% w/w
Direction
Apply a thin layer to the affected skin area 2–3 times daily. Do not use for longer than 2 consecutive weeks without medical advice.
Side effects
- Skin thinning with prolonged use.
- Allergic contact dermatitis (to neomycin).
- Burning or stinging at application site.
- Striae with extended corticosteroid use.
Precautions
- Not for use on the face
- groin
- or axillae unless directed by a physician.
- Avoid prolonged use
- may cause skin atrophy.
- Neomycin may cause sensitization
- discontinue if hypersensitivity occurs.
- Do not use under occlusive dressings unless directed.
- Avoid contact with eyes.
- Not recommended in pregnancy unless clearly necessary.
