Indication

Neo-Betasone Cream is a topical combination of a corticosteroid (betamethasone valerate) and an aminoglycoside antibiotic (neomycin) for the treatment of corticosteroid-responsive skin conditions complicated by bacterial infection.

Ingredients

• Neomycin sulfate 0.5% w/w
• Betamethasone valerate 0.1% w/w

Direction

Apply a thin layer to the affected skin area 2–3 times daily. Do not use for longer than 2 consecutive weeks without medical advice.

Side effects

• Skin thinning with prolonged use.
• Allergic contact dermatitis (to neomycin).
• Burning or stinging at application site.
• Striae with extended corticosteroid use.

Precautions

• Not for use on the face
• groin
• or axillae unless directed by a physician.
• Avoid prolonged use
• may cause skin atrophy.
• Neomycin may cause sensitization
• discontinue if hypersensitivity occurs.
• Do not use under occlusive dressings unless directed.
• Avoid contact with eyes.
• Not recommended in pregnancy unless clearly necessary.
