Cefiget (Cefixime) 100mg/5mL Suspension 30mL 100mg/5mL

Indication

Cefiget (cefixime) oral suspension is a third-generation cephalosporin antibiotic indicated for the treatment of susceptible bacterial infections including otitis media, pharyngitis/tonsillitis, urinary tract infections, and uncomplicated gonorrhoea.

Ingredients

• Cefixime 100 mg per 5 ml

Direction

Children: 8 mg/kg/day in a single dose or divided into 2 doses every 12 hours. Adults and children over 12 years or over 50 kg: 200–400 mg/day in 1–2 divided doses. Shake well before use. Complete the full course of treatment.

Side effects

• Diarrhoea (most common).
• Nausea
• abdominal pain.
• Headache.
• Skin rash (uncommon).
• Hypersensitivity reactions (rare).

Precautions

• Do not use if allergic to cephalosporins or penicillins (cross
• sensitivity possible).
• Use with caution in renal impairment
• dose adjustment may be required.
• May cause pseudomembranous colitis
• discontinue if severe diarrhoea develops.
• Shake well before each dose.
• Complete the full prescribed course
• do not stop early even if feeling better.
