WOODS' Peppermint Antitussive Not available

Indication

WOODS' Peppermint Antitussive is an over-the-counter cough suppressant containing dextromethorphan (non-opioid antitussive) and peppermint oil for the symptomatic relief of dry, unproductive cough.

Ingredients

• Dextromethorphan hydrobromide 7.5 mg per 5 ml
• Peppermint oil 1.4 mg per 5 ml

Direction

Adults and children over 12 years: 10 ml every 4–6 hours. Children 6–12 years: 5 ml every 4–6 hours. Children 2–6 years: 2.5 ml every 4–6 hours. Shake well before use. Do not exceed 6 doses in 24 hours.

Side effects

• Drowsiness or dizziness.
• Nausea or stomach upset (uncommon).
• Excitability in young children at high doses (rare).

Precautions

• Do not use in children under 2 years.
• Avoid concurrent use with MAO inhibitors.
• Do not use in patients with chronic bronchitis
• asthma
• or productive cough without medical advice.
• Consult a physician if cough persists more than 7 days.
• May cause drowsiness
• caution when driving.
